Is it best to pay by card or cash?

Norway is moving towards a cashless society, so most people pay by credit card in Bergen. (Visa and MasterCard are widely accepted cards in Bergen, some shops may also accept Eurocard, Diners club and American Express.) You may even find shops who don’t accept payment in cash. Automatic cash dispensers (ATM’s) are open 24 hours, but beware that the number of ATM’s is quite low. Many of the existing ATM’s are located inside convenience stores. Look for a sign that says “Minibank”

If you need to exchange currency, you can do so at FOREX or Ria Money Transfer. Both are located near the Tourist Information.

Electricity and outlets - what adapters are needed

The electricity network in Norway uses the European standard of 230 V, with a frequency of 50 Hz. Sockets have two round pins with earth clips on each side.
