African Network for Learning Analytics Research (ANLAR) SIG
The African Network for Learning Analytics Research (ANLAR) aims to bring together researchers, practitioners, and institutions across Africa working in the field of Learning Analytics (LA). Formally launched on 13 December 2022 as a Special Interest Group (SIG) of the Society for Learning Analytics Research (SoLAR), ANLAR seeks to advance research, practice, and dialogue on Learning Analytics within the African context, while strengthening connections to the broader international community.
Goals
- To build an active group of LA researchers on the African continent.
- To facilitate knowledge exchange between African researchers and institutions, and the international LA.
Rationale
Learning Analytics is an evolving field with growing relevance for higher education and digital learning in Africa. ANLAR provides a platform to connect African scholars, foster collaboration, and increase visibility and participation within the global LA community.
Activities
- Organise meetings and workshops to explore opportunities for collaboration and knowledge exchange.
- Promote institutional awareness of Learning Analytics applications, opportunities, and ethical considerations.
- Support applications for international research funding for collaborative LA projects.
- Share scholarly resources, datasets, and research opportunities among members.
- Encourage participation in international Learning Analytics events such as LAK, LASI, and related SoLAR initiatives.
