LAK Conference Scholarship
Brief Description of the Scholarship:
LAK24 SCHOLARSHIPS NOW AVAILABLE!
SoLAR will again be supporting individuals who would otherwise not be able to attend the conference. At this time there will be opportunities for both in person and virtual conference attendance scholarships. Within the application process you must let the review committee know if you would like to be considered for the in person scholarship as numbers are extremely limited as they include contribution towards travel, accommodation and registration costs. Virtual scholarship awards cover the full registration cost.
The purpose of the SoLAR Conference Scholarship is to support individuals working in or interested in the field of learning analytics (e.g., researchers, graduate students, teachers, and practitioners) who,
- live and work in regions of the world that are underrepresented at LAK
- are underrepresented in higher education
- cannot afford the registration fee by themselves / would not get reimbursed by their institution
Therefore, in order to increase the diversity of LAK attendees, SoLAR will be collecting applications for conference scholarships to be awarded to successful applicants. Preference will be given to applicants who:
- Are able to and will attend the full conference (in-person or virtual).
- Are willing to write a short summary about their experience at LAK for SoLAR if requested.
- Have limited or no opportunities to attend the conference without the scholarship (e.g. because they are living / studying / employed in a country underrepresented at LAK).
In order to apply for the SoLAR Conference Scholarship, please fill out the form below. If you are interested in being considered for the in person scholarship award, you MUST submit the application by December 15 to allow for processing and any associated visa processes. The applications will be reviewed by the Inclusion working group starting December 15. All virtual conference scholarship awards can continue to be submitted up until January 15, 2024.

REVIEW PROCESS
The applications will be reviewed by the Inclusion Working Group, sub-committee of the SoLAR Executive. The applicants will be selected on the basis of demonstrated need and the quality of the application. Applications looking to attend in person will be reviewed starting on December 15, 2023. All applicants looking to attend in person MUST have submitted all materials by December 15 to be considered. All other virtual only applications will be accepted up until January 15, 2024. Award notifications will be sent out prior to the early bird deadline to allow all participants to still take advantage of the early bird deadline if funding allows.
