Role description

The NEXUS Editorial assistant is responsible for the administrative aspects of the NEXUS blog. This includes communicating with authors and other members in the editorial team, ensuring the publication schedule is followed, publishing the articles/blogs and compiling readership statistics. In addition to the administrative aspects further responsibilities needed includes scanning the learning analytics literature on a weekly basis for promising stories of evidence-based design and suggesting editorial review candidates with discipline specific knowledge. Applicants may apply for one or both of the administrative and literature review responsibilities.  

Estimated workload for each set of responsibilities is 2 hours per week. 

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Monitor Nexus email box and liaise with (potential) authors
  • Maintain the publishing timeline in consultation with the editors
  • Place drafts in Nexus drive for editorial review
  • Collate usage stats for editors
  • Publish stories in SoLAR website and Medium if dual publishing is continued

Literature Review Responsibilities: 

  • Requires some knowledge about learning analytics research area
  • Scan learning analytics literature (e.g. Web of Science and Scopus databases, specialized journals and conferences) for promising stories of evidence-based design and collate candidates for editorial review

Suitable candidates may include Masters, PhD students or post-doc individuals interested in learning analytics.  

 

Selection criteria:

Ability to work independently

Demonstrated evidence of learning analytics knowledge and research 

Demonstrated project administration and management skills

Demonstrated a  sufficient level of command of the English language 

 

Remuneration: 

There are a variety of formats and structures for remuneration that will be negotiated with successful candidate(s). These may include formats such as complimentary SoLAR membership, LAK or LASI registration, flat annual amount or an hourly rate with payment via PayPal preferred.
