PhD Project: Education Video Puzzle

Develop video-based learning strategies for online education

If you are seeking to advance your career in education and interested in developing video-based learning strategies for an increasingly online world, the University of South Australia—Australia’s University of Enterprise—is offering an innovative PhD project based in our Centre for Change and Complexity in Learning (C3L).

In our current digital era, videos are ubiquitous, and the education sector is no exception. The COVID-19 pandemic and the shift to greater online teaching and learning has fuelled the surge and adoption of online educational videos. Although videos are being recorded and embedded in the curriculum, very little is known about the learning strategies that support student learning with videos and whether there are nuances in optimal learning strategies for different student cohorts.

This project will explore which video-based learning strategies best support students in humanities vs STEM disciplines, the differences between students studying at different year levels, and how students in enabling sub-bachelor programs from a range of culturally and linguistically diverse and low socio-economic backgrounds best learn with videos.

The position is based at UniSA’s Centre for Change and Complexity in Learning (C3L), within the Learning Analytics research team. C3L focuses on the complex relationship between human and artificial cognition, how it changes society, knowledge processes, and teaching and learning.
