Postdoctoral Position in AI-driven Pedagogical Agents

We are seeking an outstanding postdoctoral candidate with an interest in Artificial Intelligent (AI) and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI)  to work on a funded project on developing pedagogical agents that support the acquisition of computational thinking skills via game-based design

 

The ideal candidates will have a strong publication record in areas including user modeling and personalization,  intelligent interactive systems, virtual agents, affective computing, educational data mining, AI, HCI, and related fields.

Experience working in the educational domain is an asset but not a requirement.

Applicants should be qualified at the Ph.D. level (or equivalent). In addition, they must have excellent interpersonal, writing and research skills, strong time management and organizational skills, the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines and work both independently and as a member of the research team, including mentorship of graduate students.

 

The successful applicant will join Prof Cristina Conati’s thriving Human-AI (HAI) Interaction group with a long history of publishing in top venues and a strong research awards record. They will interact closely with UME academy, a Vancouver company providing the educational relevance and real-life application of the research project.

 

Timescale of Appointment: 1 year, renewable for two more years.
