PhD and Postdoc positions in a Learning Analytics group in Munich

The newly established research group in LEarning Analytics and Practices in Systems (LEAPS) led by Prof. Dr. Poquet is looking for scientific assistants. We are located in Munich at the new School of Social Sciences and Technology at TUM.

Our offer
Scientific assistants will participate in group’s research activities, assist with teaching courses offered by our research group, and contribute to the work of TUM’s EdTech Centre in relation to learning analytics and educational technology. The research group focuses on social learning and relationship formation in technology-augmented environments, applies complex systems approaches in the analysis of learning, and examines the use of educational technology for lifelong learning. We study data from educational technologies and work with learners, instructors, and other stakeholders, to understand and improve learning. As a member of our group, you will get unique opportunities to work in a vibrant research environment with national and international collaborations.

Salary is in accordance with the German TV-L salary scale (E-13 TV-L, PhD and Postdoc levels). Initial duration of employment is 24 months, with the possibility of extension. If you do not have a PhD, you can pursue it with the group. Available workload is up to 100% standard working time. The starting date is flexible.

Your qualifications
– Master’s degree or PhD in human-computer interaction, cognitive sciences, psychology, data science, computer sciences, learning sciences, educational sciences, mathematics, physics, engineering
– Have skills in one or more of the following: knowledge and experience of designing experiments; using quantitative research methods; good programming skills in Python and/or R; experience in user research; experience with learning analytics, educational data mining, or AIED.
– Openness to working with interdisciplinary projects and interest in applications for learning and teaching
– Fluency in English

– Achievements that demonstrate your excellence in areas relevant for scientific work
