Learning Analytics Research Manager

The Centre for Student and Community Engagement works across key points of students’ higher education experience from outreach to graduation. The post is located in the Student Engagement & Analytics Team, a team dedicated to supporting current students to overcome barriers to completing their courses. The team runs the NTU Student Dashboard, an award-winning learning analytics platform designed to help students and the staff who support them. The Dashboard is well established, however we have recently begun a new phase of work using an integrated call centre. The post holder will design and carry out evaluations of the impact of interventions and the nature of student engagement more broadly. They will manage a researcher and provide information for senior management. Furthermore, they will be responsible for finding ways to make engagement data more readily available for other researchers.

The post holder must have excellent qualitative research and data literacy skills. They must also be able to communicate effectively to non-expert audiences. It is essential that the post holder can also understand the implications of data for a large complex organisation, their findings should be able to lead managers to make better decisions around the complex nature of supporting students. The post  holder must also be able to work empathetically, understanding the barriers to success that students from disadvantaged backgrounds can face and should take an interest in the life experiences of these students.
