Visiting Assistant or Associate Professor – Learning Analytics Program

The Department of Human Development at Teachers College, Columbia University is seeking applications for a Visiting Professor (Assistant or Associate rank) for the Program in Learning Analytics. This is a one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal. Primary responsibilities associated with the position include teaching four courses per year, plus M.A. student advisement. Advisement duties include advising on student data analysis projects, as well as managing internship placements.
Job Summary/Basic Functions
Full-time Visiting Assistant or Visiting Associate ProfessorThe Learning Analytics Program at Teachers College, Columbia University invites applicants for a Visiting Assistant or Visiting Associate Professor position in Learning Analytics/Educational Data Mining. This is an initial one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal. The program seeks to hire a faculty member who is actively engaged in the learning analytics and educational data mining communities and who has been active in development and use of learning analytics methods in research and/or practice settings.

Primary responsibilities include teaching courses in the three-term (Fall, Spring, Summer A) core program sequence, advising Master’s degree students in the program, managing internship placements, and working with students on the development of their capstone projects. Additional responsibilities include advising masters students in the learning analytics degree program and those in the learning analytics track in the Cognitive Science Program.

Qualifications: Major qualifications include: a doctorate in a field relevant to learning analytics such as statistics, computer science, or the learning sciences, a track record of experience using learning analytics in research and/or practice settings, and experience teaching undergraduate or graduate students. The position will be paid on the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor pay scale at a level commensurate with the successful candidate’s experience and background. Applicants must be authorized for employment in the U.S. on a full-time basis.

Candidates should have an earned doctorate in an area relevant to learning analytics, as well as previous experience teaching at the undergraduate or graduate levels and familiarity with online learning.

The position starts this coming Fall and is good for recent PhD awardees.
